Business/STEM Internship Expo at YSU Is Feb. 13
Tuesday, January 15, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Williamson College of Business Administration and the College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics at Youngstown State University will host the annual STEM & WCBA Co-op/Internship Expo from 1 to 5 p.m. Feb. 13.
Employers from public, private sectors, including the nonprofit, are invited to participate to fill available co-op and internship positions.
Consol Plans to Invest $122M to Explore Utica Play
Monday, January 14, 2013PITTSBURGH -- Consol Energy expects to invest $122 million in its Utica shale joint venture with Hess Corp. in 2013, the company reported this morning.
Of that amount, $90 million will be allocated toward drilling capital on Consol's share of 27 wells in the Utica shale. Hess Corp. pays 75% of the Utica well costs because of a $100 million drilling carry, while production is split 50/50.
Consol has finished drilling a well in Ellsworth Township and is drilling a well in Jackson Township, both in Mahoning County.

GM Unveils Corvette Stingray to Open Auto Show
Monday, January 14, 2013DETROIT – Chevrolet unveiled its all-new Corvette Stingray Sunday evening as the North American International Auto Show gets under way at Cobo Hall.
General Motors executives called the 2014 Stingray the most powerful standard model ever, with an estimated 450 horsepower and 450 lb.-ft. of torque. The sportscar is able to accelerate from 0-60 in less than four seconds and is expected to be the most fuel-efficient Corvette, exceeding the EPA-estimated 26 mpg of the current model.
New-Vehicle Sales Momentum to Continue in 2013
Monday, January 14, 2013McLEAN, Va. -- The sales momentum of new cars and light trucks established last year is likely to continue in 2013, predicts Paul Taylor, chief economist of the National Automobile Dealers Association. He expects more than 15.4 million new vehicles will be purchased or leased in the United States this year, an increase of one million over 2012.
“Pent-up demand, affordable auto loans and enticing new-vehicle designs add up to a solid sales year that will outperform the overall U.S. economy,” Taylor said.

Minority Business Assistance Center to Open
Monday, January 14, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Minority and disadvantaged businesses will have an advocacy and assistance center starting Tuesday.
The Mahoning Youngstown Community Action Partnership, or Mycap, in conjunction with the Ohio Development Services Agency, will host a grand opening of a new Minority Business Assistance Center tomorrow at Mycap's offices, 1325 Fifth Ave.
“It will give these businesses the resources and tools they need so they could grow and become certified," said Al Stabilito, Mycap outreach and communications director.

YSU Trustees Name Search Committee, Consultant
Saturday, January 12, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Youngstown State University Board of Trustees Friday hired a consultant firm and appointed a committee to assist in the search for a new president.
President Cynthia E. Anderson announced in December that she will retire July 1 after three years in office.
At a meeting Friday afternoon, the board voted to hire AGB Search Inc. in Washington D.C. to help direct the national search for Anderson’s replacement.
