Minority Business Assistance Center to Open
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Minority and disadvantaged businesses will have an advocacy and assistance center starting Tuesday.
The Mahoning Youngstown Community Action Partnership, or Mycap, in conjunction with the Ohio Development Services Agency, will host a grand opening of a new Minority Business Assistance Center tomorrow at Mycap's offices, 1325 Fifth Ave.
“It will give these businesses the resources and tools they need so they could grow and become certified," said Al Stabilito, Mycap outreach and communications director.
The program was made possible through a $75,000 grant provided by the state, Stabilito said. Businesses in both Mahoning and Trumbull counties are eligible to receive help from the center.
The center will provide business management counseling, accounting assistance, contract procurement assistance, estimating and bidding assistance, marketing plan help and referrals to financial assistance resources.
Stabilito said that the center provides business assessment services, which help identify whether a business idea is feasible and how to execute that idea. "If it is,” he said, “we can help them."
The Youngstown program marks the 10th Minority Business Assistance Center in the state.
