YMCA Kicks Off Strong Kids Campaign Saturday
Monday, January 21, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Youngstown YMCA will launch its annual fundraising effort at 7 p.m. Saturday with the Strong Kids Campaign Party at The Georgetown in Boardman.
The public is invited to an evening that features a gourmet buffet, silent auction, iPad raffle, 50/50 raffle and dancing to the band Disco Inferno.

Host Families Needed for 4-H Youth from Japan
Monday, January 21, 2013CANFIELD, Ohio -- Mahoning, Columbiana, and Trumbull County families are invited to welcome young people from Japan into their homes for one month this year as part of an international exchange program offered by the County OSU Extension, 4-H. Last year, six youths and one chaperone were hosted in Mahoning and Trumbull counties.
Statewide, host families are needed for 100 Japanese youngsters (aged 12 to 18) and their adult chaperones, who will visit Ohio from July 24 through Aug. 19.
Consol Energy Reports Wells Drilled in Utica Shale Play
Saturday, January 19, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Pittsburgh-based Consol Energy and its joint venture partner, Hess Corp., reports its drilled eight wells and completed four of those wells in the Utica shale last year.
Consol says that in Mahoning County, the company has drilled one well in Ellsworth Township and two at the Cadle property in Jackson Township.
The MAH 2A well ion the Hendricks property in Ellsworth was drilled at a lateral length of 2,785 feet and is scheduled for completion in nine stages during the first quarter of 2013, Consol reports.
NAMII Named Among Top 'Innovations to Watch'

Friday, January 18, 2013NILES, Ohio – Bids are due in the next two weeks for several key components of the Hollywood Slots at Mahoning Valley Race Course in Austintown, including concrete, structural steel, grading, elevators and escalators and rooftop equipment, an official with the construction manager for the $125 million project said.
The project is in the design development phase with the architects and engineers, and the scope, schedule and budget are being refined for the 1-mile thoroughbred race track and gaming center, said Bob Hennessey, site superintendent with Turner Construction, Cleveland.

Huntington Reports Record Annual Net Income
Friday, January 18, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Huntington Bancshares Inc., Columbus, holding company of Huntington National Bank, Thursday reported fourth-quarter net income of $167.3 million, or 19 cents per common share.
That exceeded Wall Street expectations by two cents a share, Frank Hierro said. Hierro is president of the bank’s Mahoning Valley region that consists of Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties in Ohio and Lawrence, Mercer and Erie counties in Pennsylvania.
