Ashtabula County Plastics Plants Sold to Citadel
Wednesday, November 12, 2014NORTH KINGSVILLE, Ohio -- The Composites Group -- owner of the Premix Inc. plastics plant here, its Hadlock Plastics affiliate in Geneva and Quantum Composites affiliate in Bay City, Mich. -- has been sold to Citadel Plastics Holdings, a portfolio company backed by private equity firms HGGC of California and Charlesbank Capital Partners of Boston.
Niles Expanded Metals Acquires Oklahoma Plant
Wednesday, November 12, 2014NILES, Ohio -- Niles Expanded Metals & Plastics announced Tuesday it has purchased Oklahoma-based MetalSpand Inc., a move that will position the company for new markets in the central United States and the Gulf Coast region, principals say.
Terms were not disclosed.
"This is a great fit for Niles, as we have always considered an expansion into these territories that are key to the expanded metal market positioning and distribution," said Bill Phillips Jr., president of Niles Expanded Metals.
Bottom Dollar Food Issues WARN Notice
Wednesday, November 12, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Bottom Dollar Food officially notified the state of Ohio’s Office of Workplace Development that it will close its four Ohio stores, three in Youngstown and one in Warren, by the end of the year, costing more than 100 jobs. The notification is required under the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN).
Workers Often Can’t Use All Time Off They Earn
Wednesday, November 12, 2014JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- One-quarter of all American workers can’t take all of their paid time off during the year, a survey by Adecco Staffing US finds. Of those who did take a vacation, 89% say they checked email, 70% made work-related calls and 25% went to the office for an in-person meeting in what was supposed to be time away from the office.
Even more frustrating to 22% was cutting short their vacations because of work-related duties.
