Push for Benefits Launches Dems’ Inequality Strategy
Tuesday, January 07, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan is scheduled to join the president of the Ohio AFL-CIO, Tim Burga, this morning in a statewide conference call with reporters to beat the drums for extending unemployment benefits to 1.3 million Americans.
In announcing the press event, Ryan’s office said the congressman and labor leader would discuss how the emergency extension is important for Ohio workers and Ohio’s overall economy.
Canfield Woman to Join GOP Challenger to Kasich

John Kasich for the Republican gubernatorial nomination this year, providing primary challenges for both the incumbent governor and the Democrat who for months has laid the groundwork for trying to unseat Kasich.

Thursday, January 02, 2014WASHINGTON -- In 2013, 80% -- or four of five -- world leaders were using Twitter, says the fourth annual ranking by the Digital Policy Council. This represents a growth of 8% over 2012 and contrasts sharply with the upsurge of 78% between 2011 and 2012.
President Obama continues to occupy the No. 1 spot, gaining 16 million followers in just one year. A noticeable upturn occurred during the federal government shutdown last October as Obama, other officeholders and citizens alike tweeted their frustrations.
McNally Says His Focus Is Strengthening Partnerships
Tuesday, December 31, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Mayor-elect John A. McNally stressed the value of partnerships, including those with which suburban communities Youngstown has often found itself at odds, in remarks after he took the oath of office Monday morning.
He assumes office Wednesday as the 50th mayor.

McNally Names Lees Police Chief, Hume Law Director
Friday, December 27, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Youngstown Mayor-elect John A. McNally is appointing Robin R. Lees as the city's new police chief and attorney Martin S. Hume as the city's law director. In a news advisory released today, McNally said he will introduce Lees and Hume during a press conference Saturday at Fellows Riverside Gardens.
