HMHP to Outline Expansion Plans for its Hospitals

BOARDMAN, Ohio – Humility of Mary Health Partners will announce expansion plans for its three Mahoning Valley hospitals in the next few weeks, a system official said Tuesday.
The staff of Humility of Mary, which operates St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, St. Joseph Health Center in Warren and its newest medical campus, St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center here, is working on a master facility plan for the three hospitals, reported Paul Olivier, senior vice president of business development/quality officer.
Windsor Estates Opens in New Middletown

NEW MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Windsor House held a grand opening Friday for its new 56-suite Windsor Estates assisted living apartment building in New Middletown.
The three-story building officially opened Dec. 27 and is Windsor’s third assisted living center, with a fourth expected to open in Champion. It sits adjacent to the Masternick Memorial Health Care Center and currently has nine tenants with more expected to move in soon.
Community Health Systems Posts $3.3B for First Quarter

FRANKLIN, Tenn. -- Community Health Systems Inc. posted net operating revenues for the first quarter of 2012 of $3.3 billion, up 11.6% from $3.0 billion reported for the first three months of 2011.
In a news release following the close of markets Thursday, CHS, which operates ValleyCare Health System in Mahoning and Trumbull counties in Ohio, also reported a 3.2% increase in total admissions and an 8.1% increase in total adjusted admissions compared with the same period in 2011.
Workers’ Comp Bills Seek to Improve Care, Reduce Costs

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Three bills have been introduced in the Ohio Legislature that target Bureau of Workers' Compensation reform and are designed to help injured workers achieve better outcomes and get back to work more quickly. Bureau employees have spent the past year identifying areas for improvement, primarily related to improving declining return-to-work rates, officials report.
Union Draws Attention to Staffing Levels at TMH

WARREN, Ohio – Workers at Trumbull Memorial Hospital say staffing levels are at the bare minimum right now, and are asking owner ValleyCare Health Systems of Ohio to maintain or increase these numbers as negotiations for a new labor contract continue.
About 50 members of the Service Employees International Union and other labor organizations rallied outside Trumbull Memorial Wednesday in an effort to bring attention to the ongoing labor talks and called upon ValleyCare to settle the contract.
