Halcon Resources to Reduce Spending for 2015

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Because of low oil prices, Houston-based Halcon Resources Corp. said Thursday it would further reduce its drilling and completion budget this year to between $375 million and $425 million.
This compares to an earlier 2015 forecast of between $750 million and $800 million.
New Injection Well Slated for Warren Township

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Ohio Department of Natural Resources has issued a permit to Kleese Development Associates Inc., Warren, to develop a new Class II injection well in Warren Township, according to records.
This would be the third injection well the company has in Trumbull County, ODNR records show. Kleese Development operates two other injection wells in Vienna Township. Company officials could not be reached for comment.
New Study Says 77 ‘Unfelt’ Quakes at Poland Well

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- A new study links the March 2014 earthquakes in Poland Township to hydraulic fracturing that activated a previously unknown fault. The induced seismic sequence included a rare felt earthquake of magnitude 3.0, according to research published by the Bulletin of the Seismological Society of America.
Gulfport Adds 22 Utica Wells During 4th Quarter

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Gulfport Energy Corp. connected 22 new wells in eastern Ohio's Utica shale during the fourth quarter of 2014, the company announced Monday.
Six of the wells are located in the condensate window of the play, 12 wells are in the wet gas window and four of the wells are placed in the dry gas window of the Utica. Gulfport has six horizontal drilling rigs operating in the play, the company said.
