Third Person Charged in D&L Brine Dumping Case
Thursday, March 27, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Another employee of Hardrock Excavating LLC has been charged with criminally dumping drilling wastewater into the Mahoning River, the government said today.
Mark A. Goff, 46, of Newton Falls was charged with one count of violating the Clean Water Act, just days after Hardrock's former president, Ben Lupo, pleaded guilty to similar charges in federal court in Cleveland.
Antero to Supply Ethane for W.Va. Cracker Plant
Thursday, March 27, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Antero Resources has signed an agreement to become the anchor ethane supplier for the proposed Ascent petrochemical complex in Wood County, W.Va.
Under the agreement, announced Wednesday, Antero would provide 30,000 barrels per day of ethane to Ascent, which represents almost half of the volume required to operate the cracker planned for the Parkersburg site.

Lupo Enters Guilty Plea in Brine-Dumping Case
Monday, March 24, 2014CLEVELAND, Ohio – Benedict W. Lupo, former owner of D&L Energy, is scheduled to be sentenced June 16 after pleading guilty today to violating the Clean Water Act by discharging brine into a tributary of the Mahoning River.
“We are pleased the defendant admitted to his actions, which caused great harm to the Mahoning River,” Steven M. Dettelbach, the U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Ohio, said “We will continue to aggressively investigate and prosecute cases in which people pollute Ohio’s waterways.”
