Chesapeake Defends Directors in Letter to Shareholders
Thursday, May 24, 2012OKLAHOMA CITY -- The board of directors of Chesapeake Energy Corp. released a letter to shareholders Wednesday refuting criticisms recently raised by the comptroller of the city of New York, John C. Liu, who oversees New York City pension funds that own Chesapeake’s common shares.
The letter outlines actions the board has taken to enhance Chesapeake’s corporate governance and further strengthen its financial position. It was issued in advance of the company’s annual meeting of shareholders June 8.

New Drilling Permits Issued for Columbiana, Carroll
Tuesday, May 22, 2012COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Department of Natural Resources has issued another horizontal drilling permit to Oklahoma-based Chesapeake Exploration allowing it to drill on the Jan Paul Farms property in Hanover Township of Columbiana County.
The permit is the second horizontal drilling permit on the property, 12th in the township and 34th in the county.
Chesapeake was also issued four horizontal drilling permits for properties in Loudon Township, Carroll County. This makes nine permits in that township and 76 in Carroll County.
