Generations Insurance Acquires Cretella Agency
Wednesday, January 14, 2015WARREN, Ohio -- Generations Insurance Group has acquired Cretella Insurance Agency in Girard, the company announced Tuesday.
Cretella Insurance, 104 S. State St., has operated in the Girard community since 1983.
The agency provides preferred auto, high-risk auto, homeowners and life insurance as well as SR-22 filings, and represents a selection of dependable insurance providers for customers to choose from.
Generations Insurance Group offers a full-line of insurance options through its five offices in Ohio and Kentucky.
Foreign Automakers Show Concept Cars at Auto Show
Tuesday, January 13, 2015YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The announcement that the Golf GTI had won the North American Car of the Year award early Monday was just the start of Volkswagen's day. Hours later at its press event at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the German company showed off the Cross Coupe GTE concept, a V6 plug-in hybrid that will be built in Chattanooga, Tenn., beginning in 2016.
Chevy Goes Electric, Ford for Power at Detroit Auto Show
Monday, January 12, 2015YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Chevrolet kicked off the 2015 North American International Auto Show media days with a bang -- or rather, a buzz with the revamped electric battery of the Volt.
At the auto show's first press event, Chevy announced that the new battery in the 2016 Volt -- available in the second half of 2015 -- has a 50-mile range, a jump from 38 miles in the current model. Moreover, the battery is 100 pounds lighter.
Volkswagen Golf, Ford F-150 Car, Truck of Year
Monday, January 12, 2015DETROIT -- A panel of 57 automotive journalists chose the Volkswagen Golf GTI and the Ford F-150 as the North American Car and Truck of the Year, the hosts of the North American International Auto Show announced Monday.
The Car of the Year award is the second for Volkswagen, the New Beetle having won the award in 1999.
“The Golf and Golf GTI were recognized for setting new benchmarks in their segments, including innovation, distinguished design, and available driver assistance features, as well as unmatched value,” Volkswagen said in a press release.
Lewis Joins with Landers in Insurance, Consulting Firm
Monday, January 12, 2015BOARDMAN, Ohio Not only did Steve Lewis pick himself up and dust himself off, he’s started all over again with Dan Landers.
The former president and CEO of First Place Financial Corp. joined Landers, former president of First Place Insurance Agency, to form the Landers-Lewis Insurance Agency & Consulting Services LLC, 721 Boardman-Canfield Road.
Landers-Lewis, which has 12 employees, celebrated its first anniversary in November and expects to grow even more now that Landers’ noncompete agreement has expired.
