Slag Grinding Boosts Business at Essroc Cement
Tuesday, June 29, 2004MIDDLEBRANCH, Ohio -- Recent advancements in the production of ground, granulated blast-furnace slag at Essroc Cement Co.'s plant here are improving the overall performance of its cement and boosting sales, the company reports.The Stark County plant produces ground, granulated slag, a by-product of steelmakers' blast furnaces. "Basically, ground granulated slag enhances the performance and appearance of portland cement," said Dale Lewis, Middlebranch plant supervisor.

For the fourth year in a row, men prove to be the more talkative sex in the wireless world.In fact, men talk 16% more on their wireless phones than do women, according to a survey conducted for Cingular Wireless. Men use their wireless phones an average of 455 minutes a month, compared to an average of 391 minutes a month for women.Both sexes are talking more on their wireless phones this year, but the gender gap remains the same.

Pennsylvania AG Secures $433,000 for State Medicaid Program"
Tuesday, June 29, 2004HARRISBURG, Pa. -- State Attorney General Jerry Pappert's Medicaid Fraud Control Section has secured $391,000 for the Pennsylvania Medicaid Program as part of an agreement with Rite Aid Corp. that settled allegations that the company submitted false claims to state and federal health care programs.In a separate case, Pappert's office secured $42,000 for the Pennsylvania Medicaid Program as part of a national agreement with Wal-Mart Stores, he said.
