HMHP to Invest $10 Million for Surgical Suites

Youngstown Hires Consultant to Oversee Convocation Center Project
Friday, September 03, 2004By George NelsonYOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The city's Board of Control yesterday hired Entertainment and Sports Consulting LLC to serve as its project representative for the Youngstown Convocation Center.The Rhode Island-based firm is headed by Lee A. Esckilsen, who was formerly affiliated with Compass Facilities Management, which worked with the city on the convocation center project, leading it through the proposal process, said Law Director John A. McNally IV. He said the firm will act as the board of control's liaison with the project manager for the convention center.
"Unemployment Dips Slightly in August, Labor Department Says"
Thursday, September 02, 2004"WASHINGTON -- Unemployment dipped slightly in August, falling from 5.5% in July to 5.4%, as the U.S. Labor Department's Bureau of Labor Statistics reported a lower-than-expected 144,000 jobs were created during the month. Though the August job creation numbers represented an improvement over a revised 73,000 jobs for July's relatively weak jobs report, economists had projected 150,000 new jobs, generally seen as needed to keep pace with the number of people entering the jobs market.
Teamsters Local 377 Re-elects Officers, Trustees"

It was the first time in the local's history, which dates to 1933, that the incumbents were renominated without opposition, union officials said.Re-elected to his fifth term as secretary-treasurer was Bob Bernat. Re-elected along with Bernat to their third consecutive three-year terms were the president, Chris Colello, vice president, Larry Spencer, and recording secretary, Ken Norris.Re-elected trustees were Greg Shadle and Doug Broderick.
Regional Chamber Sets Funding Goal for Capital Campaign
Thursday, September 02, 2004By Dennis LaRue BOARDMAN, Ohio -- The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber is looking to raise just over $4 million in its third capital campaign since it was formed 12 years ago, its president and chief executive officer announced this morning.Thomas M. Humphries reported the Pride in Progress effort has raised $2.1 million so far, as much as the first capital campaign, Building Momentum, and has a firm goal of $3.1 million.
Auto Sales Down, Vehicle Production to Be Reduced"
Thursday, September 02, 2004YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- General Motors Corp.'s announcement yesterday that fourth-quarter production will drop to 1.29 million vehicles -- down 6.8% from the fourth quarter of 2003 -- may be a harbinger of tomorrow's economic news, when the U.S. Labor Department reports how many jobs were created in August.General Motors said it expects to turn out 5.22 million vehicles this year -- down 4.4% from 2003's total of 5.46 million vehicles. It's not known how the decline in total production will affect General Motors Lordstown -- if at all.
Tri-State 1st Bank Pays Dime Dividend
Thursday, September 02, 2004EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio -- The board of directors of Tri-State 1st Bank Inc. will pay a third-quarter cash dividend of 10 cents Sept. 30 to shareholders of record Sept. 10. This will be the third cash dividend paid in 2004 and represents a one cent or 11.1% increase from the nine cents per share paid in the first two quarters, and a three cents or 42.9% increase from the seven cents payment for the third quarter of 2003, said Kevin Anglemyer, chief financial officer.
Incubator Firm Launches New Online Backup Service

The difference, of course, is no pancake make-up nor color coordinated business attire -- and the freedom "to be me!" she declared.
