Honda to Build New Acura SUV at Marysville Plant in Ohio
Tuesday, September 07, 2004MARYSVILLE, Ohio -- Honda of America Mfg. today announced it will building a new Acura sport-utility vehicle at its plant here, starting in 2006.The company did not say how many -- if any -- new jobs will be created, nor how much it will invest to retool its manufacturing facilities for the new car. Production of the all-new SUV will join a lineup in Ohio that includes the Honda Accord, Civic, Element light truck and the Acura TL.
U.S. Chamber Survey Shows Economic Optimism

Friday, September 03, 2004WASHINGTON -- Unemployment dipped slightly in August, falling from 5.5% in July to 5.4%, as the U.S. Labor Department's Bureau of Labor Statistics reported a lower-than-expected 144,000 jobs were created during the month. Though the August job creation numbers represented an improvement over a revised 73,000 jobs for July's relatively weak jobs report, economists had projected 150,000 new jobs, generally seen as needed to keep pace with the number of people entering the jobs market.

Friday, September 03, 2004YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The efforts of nearly 148 million people will be commemorated on this year's observance Sept. 6 of Labor Day, according to data provided by the U.S. Census Bureau.The first observance of Labor Day is believed to have been a parade Sept. 5, 1882, in New York City, probably organized by Peter J. McGuire, a Carpenters and Joiners Union secretary. By 1893, more than half the states were observing a "Labor Day" on one day or another, and a bill to establish a federal holiday was passed by Congress in 1894.
