MarkWest Unit Completes Purchase of Y&S Railroad
Friday, February 14, 2014EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio – Sale of the assets of Youngstown & Southern Railroad, the short line that runs from Youngstown to Darlington, Pa., to Mule Sidetracks LLC is complete, the Columbiana County Port Authority announced Thursday.
Mule Sidetracks, an affiliate of MarkWest Energy Partners LP, Denver, paid the port authority $3 million, the CEO of the port authority, Tracy Drake, said. The port authority retains the mineral rights to the underlying real estate.
City OKs Marketing Funds for Faith-Based Credit Union
Friday, February 14, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Funds approved by the city Thursday morning will boost efforts by proponents of the newly established Community of Faith Credit Union.
The city Board of Control approved a technical assistance grant in the amount of $4,989.16 during its meeting Thursday. The Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance, the Baptist Pastors Council and the Community Mobilization Committee are collaborating to establish the proposed state-chartered credit union, which would be located at 2703 Mahoning Ave.
Mester Chosen President and CEO of Cleveland Fed
Friday, February 14, 2014CLEVELAND -- The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland announced Thursday that Loretta J. Mester has been appointed its president and CEO effective June 1.
She succeeds Sandra Pianalto who will retire May 31. Pianalto, who has led the Cleveland Fed since 2003, announced her retirement last August.
EQT Plans 21 New Wells for Utica This Year
Friday, February 14, 2014PITTSBURGH -- EQT Corp. plans to drill 21 horizontal wells in the Utica shale this year to "crack the code" of the light condensate oil window of the play, the president and CEO of the company said Thursday.
"The first three wells we drilled were, frankly, mediocre," David L. Porges told investors during a conference call, referring to the initial wells the company drilled in Guernsey County, Ohio.
Last year, the company drilled seven Utica wells in total.
