Applications Available for Leadership Mahoning Valley
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Applications are available for the Leadership Mahoning Valley Class of 2014-2015. Participants complete a nine-month program, which includes nine monthly day-long sessions that focus on major community systems such as education, health, human service, heritage, government, justice, labor, business, poverty and diversity.
LMV was created to identify individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences who demonstrate leadership talent and community commitment, officials said. The program provides adult community leaders with an overview of the Mahoning Valley, an opportunity for increased understanding of key community issues and the potential to develop effective working relationships with other civic leaders.
A graduation dinner concludes each class year. All sessions provide the opportunity for the class to share relevant learning experiences and to interact with leaders from sectors of the community outside their own.
A selection committee composed of LMV members will review all applications, which must be received by May 1. The selection committee will choose up to 40 participants for the 2014-2015 class.
Selection criteria include recognized leadership ability in the applicant’s field and a demonstrated commitment to community service. Candidates may request applications directly or be nominated to apply by their employer, a program graduate or others. Every effort is made to attract applications that ensure a class that reflects the diversity of this area's occupations, its racial, religious and ethnic groups, as well as a balanced demographic and geographic mix.
The tuition fee of $2,000 covers all program costs, including meals, admission fees and program supplies. Applications may be requested by calling the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber at 330 7442131, ext. 41. The LMV office is located in the First National Bank Building in Youngstown.
