BP Supports 6,100 Jobs, Spends $435 Million in Ohio
Friday, November 15, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- BP’s business activities in Ohio accounted for more than $400 million in economic impact and helped employ more than 6,100 people in the state last year, according to a report the company released Friday.
In its U.S. Economic Impact Report 2013, BP detailed the effects of the $435 million it spent with more than 3,000 vendors across Ohio in 2012. This activity underpins the jobs of more than 760 BP employees, BP said, and supports an additional 5,400 jobs in the state.
Shale Drillers Getting Better Grip on Utica's Potential

National Philanthropy Day Salutes Giving Back

Both have contributed time, effort and money to various community organizations and serve as directors on nonprofit boards. Some 20 years ago, they established the Suzanne and Al Fleming Family Foundation. Still, they were surprised to learn they are among the honorees who will be recognized today to commemorate National Philanthropy Day.
“It must be philanthropy with a small ‘p’ because we don’t consider ourselves to be huge donors,” remarks Al Fleming, a local attorney.
Regional Chamber Releases Economic Development Update
Friday, November 15, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber released an economic developmennt update Thursday that describes the five-county region as "North America's center for Utica and Marcellus shale business.
The report, contained in a two page PDF (CLICK HERE), begins by stating that $8.4 billion has been invested in the Youngstown-Warren area and "nearby Western Pennsylvania" since 2008, 7,670 new jobs have been created in that time frame and 12,560 jobs have been retained.

Business Owners Less Optimistic about Holiday Sales

Some 30% of retailers think their holiday sales this season will be strong, American Express says, down from 41% last year and as a result, just 41% of business owners will be giving their clients/customers gifts this holiday season, down from 51% last year.
