In a report titled "U.S. Economy: Prelude to a Recession" released today, Bazdarich counters the belief that the national economy is early in a growth period that will only get stronger. Instead, he asserts that the underlying data reveal a recovery that may be close to the end.

Wednesday, September 08, 2004DALLAS -- Higher-than-usual volatility in raw milk prices, a difficult retail grocery environment, and record-high fuel, resin and other commodity costs have caused Dean Foods Co., parent of Dean Dairy, Sharpsville, Pa., to reduce its earnings expectations for 2004, officials reported. These and other factors are contributing to weaker than expected performance across all of its businesses, officials added.For the full year 2004, adjusted earnings per share are expected in the range of $2 to $2.05.

Youngstown C-130 Crew Flies Relief Supplies to Russia
Wednesday, September 08, 2004VIENNA TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- Two Air Force Reserve C-130 crew deployed to the 38th Airlift Squadron at Ramstein Air Base, Germany, flew medical and humanitarian supplies to Vladikavkaz, Russia Monday. The first C-130 crew to land was from the Youngstown and the second was from Colorado Springs, Colo., according to Master Sgt. Bryan Ripple, public affairs officer at the Youngstown Air Reserve Station here.
Bedford Downs Enters Home Stretch for Licensing Approval

Production to Start at Mahoning County's First Winery

If you're the Mastropietro family, and the tons are of grapes, you'll make wine -- and a little bit of history.On Sept. 11, the family will take delivery of more than 15 tons of California grapes, which will be turned into wine that will be sold in Mahoning County's first winery, said owner Dan Mastropietro.Within two weeks, additional grapes from Ohio and New York will arrive at the Mastropietro Winery, located at 14558 Ellsworth Road, the owner said.

"Trade Mission Seeks Business for Ohio Companies in Japan, Taiwan"
Tuesday, September 07, 2004"COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Last year, Ohio companies exported $1.1 billion in goods to Japan, the Buckeye State's fourth largest export market, according to Gov. Bob Taft. Now, he's leading an Ohio Business and Investment Mission to Japan and Taiwan to promote even more exports. The governor will be joined by 73 representatives from 60 Ohio companies and organizations for the trip, scheduled for Sept. 24 through Oct.
