Strike Looms at The Vindicator in Youngstown
Thursday, November 11, 2004"YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Members of the Youngstown Newspaper Guild Local 11 voted nearly unanimously Thursday night to strike The Vindicator at midnight Nov. 15 when their contract expires.The rank and file also authorized publication of a strike newspaper should a job stoppage occur."The vote was 110 to 2," said Tony Markota, president of the Newspaper Guild-Communictions Workers of American Local 34011 of Youngstown. "The membership is united."Mark Brown, general manager of The Vindicator, said late Thursday he's not surprised by the strike vote. "It's routine," he commented.

Thursday, November 11, 2004"SANTA MONICA, Calif. -- Decreasing incentives cost U.S. automakers their lowest share ever of the global car market last month, according to a newly released analysis.Overall, combined incentives spending for domestic Chrysler, Ford and General Motors nameplates was $3,663 per unit in October, down $616 from September, an online resource for automotive information, Edmunds.com, reported Thursday. Chrysler lowered incentives spending in October by $133 to $3,644 per vehicle and gained 1.0% market share, achieving 12.8% in total, the report found.

F.N.B. Declares Cash Dividend of 23 Cents
Thursday, November 11, 2004HERMITAGE, Pa. -- The board of directors of F.N.B. Corp. yesterday declared a quarterly cash dividend of 23 cents per share of common stock. The dividend is payable Dec. 15 to shareholders of record as of the close of business on Dec. 1. "We are pleased that F.N.B.'s cash dividend is among the highest of bank holding companies our size in the United States," saidStephen Gurgovits, president and chief executive officer. "This dividend represents a yield, on an annualized basis, that is consistent with our targeted yield range of between 4% and 5%.

According to the Shorenstein Center's post-election Vanishing Voter survey, first-time voters accounted for a large share of the increase.Issues fueled the turnout increase in 2004, the survey found. Pre-election polls indicated that most Americans felt that the election of 2004 was the most important in years.
