First Latino Beauty, Barber Salon Opens Saturday
Friday, October 25, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Fantastic Image Salon will open its doors at 1361 Shehy St. from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday. It will be the first Latino beauty and barber salon here, owner Aggie Acevedo said Thursday.
Acevedo began the salon in her home but quickly outgrew the space. Now in a new two-story salon, she can expand her client base as well as add staff, three stylists and a barber, she said.
Timken Earnings Fall; Will Spin Off Steel Business
Friday, October 25, 2013CANTON, Ohio -- The Timken Co. Thursday reported third-quarter net income of $52.2 million, or 54 cents per diluted share. This compares with net income of $80.9 million, or 83 cents per filuted share, the same period a year ago.
Third-quarter sales were $1.1 billion, down 7% from a year ago, attributed primarily to weaker demand in company’s broad-end markets, partially offset by acquisitions.
WaterFire Creator to Address Shenango Chamber
Friday, October 25, 2013SHARON, Pa. -- The creator of WaterFire Providence, Barnaby Evans, will be the keynote speaker at the Shenango Valley Chamber of Commerce’s annual dinner Nov. 12.
The dinner begins at 5 p.m. at the Avalon Golf & Country Club in Buhl Park.
Evans is an artist who works in many media including site-specific sculpture installations, photography, film, garden design and architectural projects. He created the first WaterFire in Providence in 1994 and has created WaterFire installations in Columbus, Ohio, Kansas City, Mo., and now here.

'Jenny's Wedding' Begins Shooting Monday in Cleveland
Friday, October 25, 2013CLEVELAND -- The Greater Cleveland Film Commission announced Thursday that "Jenny's Wedding" will begin shooting Monday in the city Oct. 28. Emmy-winner and Golden Globe nominee Katherine Heigl, two-time Oscar nominee Tom Wilkinson, two-time Tony Award nominee Linda Emond and Grace Gummer are set to star in the movie.
Mary Agnes Donahue wrote, is co-producing and will direct the film. The other producers are Gail Levin and MM Productions' Michelle Manning.
Regional Chamber Honored by Development Association

Injection Wells Prepare for Operation in Trumbull

Two injection wells intended to store drilling wastewater should be running at full speed in Trumbull County by early next year, and more are planned for the near future, say operators.
“We’re not officially open yet,” says Bob Barnett, geologist and owner of American Energy Associates Inc., Cortland. “But, we’re taking some of the water from Clinton wells, and everything looks good so far.”

Farmers Reports Third-Quarter Net Income of $1.61M
Thursday, October 24, 2013CANFIELD, Ohio -- Farmers National Banc Corp., parent of Farmers National Bank and Farmers Trust Co., Wednesday reported net income of $1.61 million, or nine cents a share.
This compares to second-quarter net income of $1.87 million, or 10 cents per share, and third-quarter 2012 net income of $2.49 million, or 13 cents a share.
Had Farmers not incurred $1.3 million in severance costs related to terminated employees, presumably including former president and CEO John S. Gulas, net income would have been $2.4 million, or 13 cents a share, the company said.
Yurchison Joins Cortland Banks as Commercial VP
Thursday, October 24, 2013CORTLAND, Ohio -- Cortland Banks has appointed John D. Yurchison vice president, commercial banking.
Yurchison, a graduate of Youngstown State University, comes from First Place Bank where he was a vice president of commercial lending. He has been a banker more than 27 years.
His background includes SBA lending, origination, structuring and servicing, Cortland Banks officials said.
Yurchison will be based out of the office on Seville Drive in Canfield.
