KSU Trumbull Hosts Career Day for Female 10th Graders
Monday, March 24, 2014WARREN, Ohio -- Kent State University Trumbull Campus, Champion Township, will host its annual "The Road Not Taken" career conference April 4. Keynote speaker is Camille Favre, senior vice president of human resources at Seven Seventeen Credit Union.
The conference is a career-exploration program designed for 150 female high school sophomores enrolled in advanced math and science classes. These students will learn aboout high-profile local women successfully engaged in nontraditional careers in math, science and technology.

Friday, March 21, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Nearly 40 years ago, the late downtown developer Dick Mills transplanted the roots of a tropical Canna plant he had grown at home to a large pot bordering a parking lot he owned on Commerce Street.
Today, the offspring of that plant still grow each season as part of CityScape's Streetscape initiative, an effort to recruit volunteers and sponsors to beautify the city's central business district and its gateway thoroughfares.

Owner of WKBN/WYFX Merges with Media General
Friday, March 21, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Television stations WKBN and WYFX are about to undergo another change in ownership, which also will affect WYTV, operated by the local TV stations under a local marketing agreement.
Media General Inc. and LIN Media LLC, which owns and operates the local TV stations, this morning announced a $2.6 million merger agreement that would create the nation’s second largest “pure-play television broadcasting company," the companies said.
Ohio Unemployment Rate Drops to 6.5% in February
Friday, March 21, 2014COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio’s unemployment rate fell nearly half a percentage point in February from the month before, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reports this morning. The statewide unemployment rate last month was 6.5%, down from 6.9% in January. In February 2013, the state unemployment rate was 7.3%.
