25th Strimbu Memorial BBQ Takes Place May 7th
Wednesday, April 16, 2014BROOKFIELD, Ohio -- The Strimbu Memorial BBQ celebrates 25 of giving a hand up, not a hand out, May 7 at the Yankee Lake Ballroom here. The barbecue is part of a fundraising effort for the Strimbu Memorial Fund.
As typically happens when an enterprise celebrates a milestone, this year’s event looks to be the biggest and best so far, organizers say. In addition to the food and drink, live and silent auctions and free bag of vidalia onions, the barbecue will have live entertainment from up-and-coming country music star Chris Higbee.

Jennifer Roller Named President of Wean Foundation

She has been with the foundation since 2007, serving most recently as vice president and acting president.

9,271 New Business File with State in March

From January through March, the office handled 24,804 new business filings, up from 23,965 for the first quarter of last year.

YSU Foundation Surpasses $225 Million in Assets
Tuesday, April 15, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Youngstown State University Foundation, which annually provides millions of dollars in scholarships to thousands of YSU students, has surpassed the $225 million mark in assets and is now among the top third of university endowments in the nation, the university reported.
The foundation reported $226.3 million in assets in fiscal year 2013, according to the annual endowment survey by the National Association of College and University Business Officers and the Commonfund Institute.

Craig Beach to Get Grocery, Niles a Dollar General
Tuesday, April 15, 2014BOARDMAN, Ohio -- The commercial division of Northwood Realty Services reports two new agreements will bring a grocery store to Craig Beach and a Dollar General to Niles.
A new 12,700-square-foot Sparkle Market is under renovation at 1428 Grandview Ave. in Craig Beach, near Lake Milton, site of a former IGA supermarket.
Also, Northwood reports that a new 10,000-square-foot Dollar General store is under construction on Robbins Avenue in Niles.
Northwood agent John Horvath completed both transactions.
