9,271 New Business File with State in March
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A total of 9,271 new entities filed to do business in Ohio in March, up from 8,808 in March 2013, the office of the Ohio secretary of state reports. From January through March, the office handled 24,804 new business filings, up from 23,965 for the first quarter of last year.
New business filings are classified as forms submitted to the Ohio secretary of state that declare the formation of a business entity, including for-profit, nonprofit and professional corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships, limited partnerships and limited liability partnerships.
During 2012 and 2013, the state saw a record-setting number of new businesses file with 88,068 and 89,735 filing respectively.
Growth in online business filings has been steady and available online services continue to be expanded. Since the launch of the program’s launch last October, 9,569 new companies have filed online.
