McClendon Gets 7 Permits for Utica's Southern Tier
Wednesday, May 14, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – American Energy Utica LLC last week secured seven permits from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources to drill in the southern tier of the Utica shale as the company, led by former Chesapeake Energy CEO Aubrey McClendon, raises its profile in eastern Ohio.
American Energy, which recently secured a contract with the Utica East Ohio Buckeye system to process natural gas liquids drawn from its wells, obtained permits for four horizontal wells in Harrison County and for three horizontal wells in Guernsey County, according to ODNR.

House Prices Jump 11.3% in 4th Quarter
Wednesday, May 14, 2014IRVINE, Calif. -- House prices rose 11.3% in the fourth quarter of 2013 compared to the same period a year earlier, CoreLogic reports. Some metropolitan areas, including Pittsburgh, reached new price peaks.
House prices nationwide were 20% above the level reached in the fourth quarter of 2011, but remained 21% below the peak reached in the first quarter of 2006, according to the latest report from the CoreLogic Case-Shiller indices.

Under the terms of the letter of understanding he and trustee Chairman Sudershan K. Garg signed, Tressel will be paid $300,000 annually the first two years of his three-year contract. The third year will be “based on performance evaluation,” the parties agreed.

America Makes 2-Day Instruction Filled to Capacity
Tuesday, May 13, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The last time America Makes hosted a two-day instructional program on additive manufacturing, the event drew about 20 people.
On May 12, as another class convened, the number hit its capacity of 28 attendees, and more are expressing interest about learning the fundamentals of the process and how it relates to the future of their business and industry.
"We'll have to do this again in the near future because quite a few were turned away," said Howard Kuhn, an adjunct professor at the University of Pittsburgh and the program's course instructor.
