$500 Less on Average to Insure Homes, Cars

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The average insurance premiums Ohioans pay are among the lowest in the country, Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor reported Tuesday. The annual homeowner and auto insurance premiums, when combined, are nearly $500 below national averages.
According to data for 2012, the most recent year available, Ohioans paid an average of $725 -- ninth lowest -- for homeowner’s insurance and $635 -- 11th lowest -- for auto insurance premiums compared to national averages of $1,023 and $815, respectively. The data is from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.
Home Sales Last Year Show Modest Gain from 2013

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Real estate agents in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties sold 5,016 single-family houses in 2014, up from the 4,927 sold the previous year, the latest reports from the regional organization that collects the data show.

PITTSBURGH -- First National Bank of Pennsylvania has begun offering improved foreign-exchange services and offers a comprehensive suite of products related to global trade finance.
The president and CEO of the bank and its holding company, F.N.B. Corp., Vincent J. Delie Jr., made the announcement Thursday.
“Each of these new services gives First National Bank a competitive advantage,” Delie said in a prepared statement, “but together they round out a sophisticated international banking program that provides additional capabilities to our extensive product offering.”
Mortgages 'Underwater' Decline Locally in 3Q

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The number of residential properties with a mortgage determined to be in negative equity – or “underwater” – is declining in the Youngstown-Warren-Boardman region, reports CoreLogic.
Negative equity means borrowers owe more on their mortgages than their homes are worth. It can occur because of a decline in value, an increase in mortgage debt or a combination of both.
December New-Car Sales Up 19.8% in Mahoning Valley

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Car dealerships in the Mahoning Valley sold 2,310 new cars in December, a 19.8% increase over the same month in 2013, the Automobile Dealers Association of Eastern Ohio reported Thursday. Combined new and used sales rose 14.8% in December from a year earlier, to 5,453 vehicles.
In 2014, 73,627 new and used cars were sold in Mahoning, Columbiana and Trumbull counties, a 5.2% increase from 2013.
