Breaking: Index Ranks YBI No.1 in the World

The announcement was made shortly after 10 this morning. Ali Amin, CEO of the UBI Index, traveled from Stockholm, Sweden, to make the announcement.
Breaking: Jameson Health System to Merge with UPMC
Tuesday, September 16, 2014NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- The boards of directors of Jameson Health System and UPMC today announced they have signed a nonbinding letter of intent to merge Jameson into the UPMC network. Jameson, UPMC, and UPMC Horizon will collaborate to develop a plan that will ensure continued access to quality health care for the region, the hospitals said.
State Officials Meet with Minority Business Owners
Tuesday, September 16, 2014LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- One of the challenges Ohio faces in boosting contract participation by minority-owned companies is finding qualified businesses in specific categories where there are needs, says the state’s minority business chief.
During the last fiscal year, 282 minority businesses provided goods and services to Ohio, “but we think that number should be much higher,” said Jackie Williams, chief of the minority business development division within the Ohio Development Services Agency.
7 Days of STEM Begins with a Bang at Chaney
Tuesday, September 16, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- A weeklong effort intended to encourage young people to consider careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, or STEM, kicked off with a bang Monday afternoon – several bangs, really -- replete with exploding watermelons, pingpong guns and other demonstrations that wowed the students.
"Who wants to see some things explode?" asked Katie Seminara of more than 250 students in the sixth through 12th grades at the Chaney STEM/VPA Campus. They answered with enthusiastic cheers.
Valley House Sales Keep Pace with August 2013
Tuesday, September 16, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Sales of houses in August were on par with a year ago, the latest monthly report shows.
The data, reported to the Centralized Real Estate Information Services Multiple Listing Service by the Youngstown Columbiana Association of Realtors and the Warren Area Board of Realtors, showed a combined 474 houses were sold in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties last month, slightly ahead of the 461 sold in August 2013 and the 468 sold in July.
CCPA Extends Drake’s Contract a Third Year
Tuesday, September 16, 2014EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio -- The board of the Columbiana County Port Authority Monday night retained its CEO, Tracy Drake, through Sept. 30, 2015, by renewing his employment for the third of a three-year contract.
Terms remain the same as those agreed to two years ago: Drake will be paid $200,000 a year in salary and he will continue to receive a monthly car allowance of $750.
