Warren Printing to Merge with Cleveland's HKM
Tuesday, April 20, 2004WARREN, Ohio -- Warren Printing, a fixture 59 years in the local printing industry, has reached an agreement to join HKM Direct Market Communications of Cleveland.Jim Jastatt, president of Warren Printing, said HKM will purchase some of the company's assets, including a 29-inch conventional printer, and additional equipment. "Through the exceptional services that this organization provides, thousands of Ohio's children will now benefit from the Sorbates settlement," Petro says. WCI Steel Files Plan of Reorganization
Tuesday, April 20, 2004WARREN, Ohio -- WCI Steel Inc. has filed a plan of reorganization with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Ohio that will enable it to emerge from Chapter 11 bankruptcy.The reorganization, approved by the company's independent board of directors, is subject to approval by the bankruptcy court and a vote of creditors and other stakeholders.An integral component of WCI's reorganization plan is the tentative labor agreement reached April 14 with the United Steelworkers of America.
Home Savings Wins Regulators' OK for New Office in McDonald
Tuesday, April 20, 2004YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Home Savings and Loan Co. has received approval from the Ohio Department of Commerce Division of Financial Institutions and Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. to open a new, full-service office in McDonald. The office, scheduled to open in July, will be Home Savings' first, full-service retail branch in the McDonald area and its fourth in Trumbull County. Home Savings has 35 banking offices and six loan production offices throughout Ohio and western Pennsylvania.
GM Earns $1.3 Billion in First Quarter 2004
Tuesday, April 20, 2004DETROIT -- General Motors Corp. today reported earnings of $1.3 billion, or $2.25 per diluted share of GM common stock, in the first quarter of 2004. These results represent an increase of 24% from the year-ago period, when GM earned $1 billion, or $1.84 per share, from continuing operations and before special items. Revenue rose 3.1% to $47.8 billion.The year-ago results exclude a gain of $505 million, or 90 cents per share, from the sale of GM Defense, and Hughes Electronics, which was split off from GM in late 2003 and is now reported for 2003 as a discontinued operation.
