Rubenstein to Develop Marketing Plan for Cortland
Wednesday, May 07, 2014CORTLAND, Ohio -- City Council has awarded a contract to Rubenstein Associates, Liberty Township, to study and launch a nationwide marketing communication endeavor on behalf of the city, the president of the marketing firm, Carolyn Rubenstein, announced Tuesday.
The first phase is development of a strategic marketing plan.
“We have so much to offer and intend to share our economic and family values and opportunities with Ohio and America -- Cortland truly is a stunning northeastern Ohio success story," noted Mayor Curt Moll.

MTR Gaming Reports 1Q Loss of $6.2 Million
Wednesday, May 07, 2014CHESTER, W.Va. -- First-quarter net revenues dropped 6.4% to $114.8 million at MTR Gaming Group Inc. compared with $122.7 million the first quarter of 2013, the ompany announced Tuesday. MTR attributed the decrease primarily to the extremely harsh winter and ongoing competition from Ohio gambling centers.
First-quarter results, adjusted for EBITDA, was $20.5 million, a decrease of 17.9% from the same quarter a year ago, and the adjusted EBITDA margin was 17.9%, a decrease of 240 basis points.
United Airlines Rules Out YNG Passenger Service
Tuesday, May 06, 2014VIENNA, Ohio -- United Airlines says there is no solid business case for establishing daily passenger service at the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport, and even it there were, “The local subsidy amount being cited (approximately $1.5 million) was far below what they would need to start and sustain the daily service being discussed,” Dan Dickten, airport aviation director, announced Tuesday morning.
Dickten released a three-page letter, dated May 6, which was sent to the board of directors of the Western Reserve Port Authority, operator of the airport.
YSU, Eastern Gateway Get $550K in Equipment Grants
Tuesday, May 06, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Youngstown State University and Eastern Gateway Community College have been awarded nearly $550,000 in state grants that will help improve the region’s manufacturing capacity and workforce.
YSU’s grant for $299,015 will be used to purchase equipment to help the university continue developing a comprehensive curriculum in the rapidly emerging field of additive manufacturing. The $250,000 Eastern Gateway grant will be used to purchase equipment for a regional advance pipeline welding laboratory at the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center.
