Day of Caring Kicks Off 2014 United Way Campaign
Friday, September 05, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley announced a $2.6 million goal this morning for its 2014 campaign, a target the agency is already a quarter of the way toward reaching.
This year’s pacesetter campaign and events such as the pre-party prior to Rod Stewart’s concert last month and the April fundraiser featuring golfers Jack Nicklaus and Annika Sorenstam raised $711,000 toward the goal, the United Way chapter’s president, Bob Hannon, reported. “There’s no place that steps up like the Mahoning Valley,” he said.

Friday, September 05, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Turning Technologies announced Thursday that it plans to work with Pearson, a multi-platform educational services company based in London, and use that company's Schoolnet assessment platform in conjunction with Turning's Insight360 software in K-12 classrooms.
Through Schoolnet, Turning software will be able to deliver educational management tools that include assessments, performance data, benchmarks, and standards-based curricula.

Friday, September 05, 2014PITTSBURGH -- PNC Equipment Finance, a member of The PNC Financial Services Group Inc., has created a Structured Finance Solutions group, Rich Doherty, president of the subsidiary, announced Thursday.
The in-house group will provide strategic services and creative solutions to large corporations, midsize companies and government entities involved in complex financial transactions, Doherty said.
The group will focus on the energy, transportation, manufacturing, media, municipal and infrastructure sectors.

Mahoning County Names Mosure to WRPA Board
Thursday, September 04, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Mahoning County Board of Commissioners this morning filled the final open slot on the Western Reserve Port Authority’s board of directors, naming David Mosure to the board.
Today’s appointment of Mosure, who is vice president of MS Consultants Inc. in Youngstown, follows Trumbull County Commissioners’ recent appointments of businessman Sam Covelli and attorney David Detec to the WRPA board.
Mosure’s appointment will run through Dec. 31, 2016. He will fill the unexpired term of Richard Schiraldi, who stepped down earlier this year.
