YSU Names Sturrus Interim Dean of STEM College
Friday, September 26, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Gregg Sturrus, chairman of the department of physics and astronomy at Youngstown State University, has been named interim dean of the YSU College of Science, Technology, Education and Mathematics effective Oct. 8, pending approval by the university board of trustees.
The office of the president issued the announcement to the YSU campus Thursday afternoon, a spokesman said.
Sturrus would succeed Martin Abraham, earlier named interim provost and vice president for academic affairs.
Cooperation Accelerates to Launch STEM Programs
Friday, September 26, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Cooperative efforts between school districts in the region and private partners are key to accelerating students’ aptitude in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, or STEM, education, officials say.
In the past, public school districts have struggled when on their own to obtain funding for programs that come with a high price tag. STEM education, for example, requires hands-on training with sophisticated equipment that could prove cost-prohibitive to most of these districts.
New Vehicle Sales Projected to Climb 9%
Friday, September 26, 2014IRVINE, Calif. -- Sales of new vehicles are expected to increase 9.1% year-over-year to 1.24 million units, resulting in a project adjusted annual rate of 16.4 million seasonally adjusted.
Based on the robust sales pace of the last few months, Kelley Blue Book is adjusting its sales outlook for 2014 upward by 100,000 to 16.4 million.
Novak Auto Parts Hosts Auto Recycling Event
Friday, September 26, 2014NEW BRIGHTON, Pa. -- Novak Auto Parts will host the Pennsylvania Automotive Recycling Trade Society as part of the society’s 50th annual convention today and tomorrow. Judy Moore, assistant director for the National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium, is the keynote speaker.
Moore will speak on safe recycling practices as well as the value that hybrid vehicles bring to the auto recycling industry.
The society is an affiliate state chapter of the national Automotive Recyclers Association.

Thursday, September 25, 2014MADISON, N.J. -- Millennials are more flexible than the Gen X and baby boomers when it comes to office layout, length of their daily commute, their willingness to forgo working from home and their ability to work remotely from mobile devices, says a Coldwell Banker survey.
"Commercial real estate, and particularly the office sector, has entered a unique era of servicing three distinct generations," said Fred Schmidt, president and chief operating officer of Coldwell Banker Commercial Affiliates, which conducted the survey.
