Cleveland/Akron/Canton CFOs Not Ready to Hire
Thursday, March 14, 2013CLEVELAND -- Just 10% of chief financial officers in the Cleveland/Akron/Canton area expect to add new professional-level positions in the second quarter. Another 71% said they will not be adding new positions but will fill roles that open in the next 2½ months.
In addition, 15% of respondents will not hire, even to fill an open position, and 3% plan to reduce staff levels, according to the Professional Employment Forecast from Robert Half.
CFOs were asked, "What are your company's hiring plans for full-time professional-level employees in the second quarter?"

Commission Tells Penn National to Revise Plans

Members of the commission, including its chairman, Robert Schmitz, were often openly skeptical of design aspects, including accommodations for watching live racing, for the proposed Hollywood Slots at Mahoning Valley Race Course that Penn National plans to develop in Austintown.

"I hate to see these old places go," the elder Sawyer said as he looked upward toward the high plant ceiling and then made his way through the tooling area of the sprawling complex by this time packed with hundreds of bidders. They were looking at buying some of the thousands of components slated for auction this week. "This building has got to be about 100 years old," Sawyer remarked.

U.S. News Names Cruze Best Compact Car for Families

The magazine's awards, which covering 19 categories, highlight the vehicles that provide the best combination of quality, features and space that today's families need, the magazine said. Other GM winners are the Chevrolet Suburban, Chevrolet Traverse, Buick Verano, Buick Lacrosse and Cadillac Escalade.

Covelli Centre Earns Enough to Pay Debt Service
Tuesday, March 12, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Covelli Centre reports an operating profit of $320,787 in 2012, “our single best operational surplus in the seven-year history of the Centre,” says Eric Ryan in a letter to Mayor Charles Sammarone and members of City Council.
Ryan is the president of J.A.C. Management Group LLC, which is paid a management fee to operate the arena.
