Teachers to Get Inside View of Modern Manufacturing
Wednesday, June 05, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- A new program, “Educator in the Manufacturing Workplace,” will give teachers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in manufacturing and see how they can apply what they learn on the factory floor in their classrooms.
“Educator" is a collaborative project that involves Oh-Penn Interstate Region Partners, the Lawrence County (Pa.) School to Work, the Mahoning County Career & Technical Center, Youngstown State University, Industry Partners of Lawrence and Mercer Counties and Mahoning Valley Manufacturers Coalition.

Kent Trumbull Starts $3.5M Lecture Hall Renovations
Wednesday, June 05, 2013WARREN, Ohio -- Construction is under way at the Trumbull Campus of Kent State University on renovations to its primary lecture hall in the classroom/administration building.
The project, with a projected cost of $3.5 million, is expected to last a year or so and will expand the lecture hall to 300 seats.
The renovations include new theater-style seating, new audio/visual and lecture equipment (including projection, sound and Wi-Fi), a new stage with wheelchair access as well as new heating, ventilation and air-conditioning climate control equipment.
YMCA Hosts Inaugural Day Camp at Austintown School

Gallery 29 Artists to Host Open House Saturday

Gallery 29 will celebrate a new space and new look with refreshments and a wide selection of art that includes jewelry, paintings, photography and furniture.
The gallery also exhibits pottery, stained glass, fabric art and blown glass. Gallery 29 is a collaboration of over 80 local artists who joined together to share their work with each other and the community.
IGS Energy to Build Valley's First CNG Fueling Station
Tuesday, June 04, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- IGS Energy CNG Services plans to build and operate a new compressed natural gas fueling station in Girard, the first of its kind in the Mahoning Valley, the company announced today.
IGS Energy, based in Dublin, Ohio, said that the new station would be located at the Mr. Fuel truck stop at 2840 Salt Springs Road, just off the Interstate 80 interchange.
