Ohio Petroleum Council Applauds Pipeline Vote
Thursday, April 18, 2013COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio Petroleum Council is applauding the Ohio General Assembly's passage of a resolution urging the federal government to approve construction of the Keystone XL pipeline. The resolution passed the Ohio House Wednesday with an overwhelming 90-7 affirmative vote. The Ohio Senate approved the measure last week. It now goes to the U.S. State Department for consideration.
Huntington Reports Net Income of $151.8 Million
Thursday, April 18, 2013COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Huntington Bancshares Inc. Wednesday reported net income of $151.8 million for the quarter ended March 31, or 17 cents per common share.
This compares to fourth-quarter 2012 net income of $167.3 million, or 19 cents per common share, and first-quarter 2012 net income of $153.3 million, or 17 cents per share.
The Midwest provider of financial services (assets $56 billion) also announced it is raising the dividend on its common shares by a penny to five cents a share, a 25% increase. The dividend is payable July 1 to shareholders of record June 17.
Nearly 100 People Charged in Narcotics, Firearms Ring
Wednesday, April 17, 2013WARREN, Ohio -- Nineteen separate federal indictments were unsealed today, charging 55 people with various violations of federal narcotics and/or firearms laws in and around Warren, Ohio, law enforcement officials announced.
At the same time, an additional 42 people were charged in state court on similar charges. Overall, 155 firearms were taken off the streets, either by being purchased or seized.
D&L Files Bankruptcy; Local Companies Left Hanging
