YSU to Interview 3 Finalists for President
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Youngstown State University has narrowed down to three the number of candidates it will interview to succeed outgoing President Cynthia Anderson.
The university’s board of trustees Tuesday accepted the presidential search advisory committee’s recommendation for the candidates it will interview. The finalists are:
- William R. Decatur, J.D., executive vice president, Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, R.I.
- Randy J. Dunn, Ed.D., president, Murray State University, Murray, Ky.
- James D. Moran III, Ph.D., vice chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs, Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education, Harrisburg, Pa.
“I want to congratulate and thank the committee for a job well done,” said Sudershan Garg, chairman of the YSU board of trustees and the search committee. “We believe we have a highly qualified contingent of final candidates, and we look forward to them coming to Youngstown, visiting campus and meeting the people of the university and the community.”
The 17-member search committee was appointed in January to spearhead the national search for a successor to Anderson, who retires July 1 after three years in office. The committee interviewed eight candidates April 12 and 13 at the Hyatt Regency Pittsburgh International Airport and forwarded the names of the three candidates deemed best qualified for the position. The board on Tuesday accepted and confirmed the committee’s report and agreed to invite the three recommended finalists to campus. The board will make the final decision on the appointment.
Further details about the final candidates and the campus visits will be available once arrangements have been made.
