Consol Applies for First Permit in Trumbull County
Thursday, April 05, 2012YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Consol Energy/CNX Gas Co. has applied for its first permit to drill into the Utica shale in Trumbull County’s Vienna Township.
Pittsburgh-based CNX applied for the permit April 3 and awaits approval from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. Last week, Consol announced it was expanding its presence in Ohio and said it plans to open a regional office at the Leetonia World Trade Park in Columbiana County. Also last week, energy giant BP announced it secured 84,000 acres of lease agreements in Trumbull County worth $331.5 million.
