Obama's Order Pools Agencies Overseeing Fracking
Monday, April 16, 2012WASHINGTON -- President Obama issued an executive order Friday creating a working group consisting of federal agencies and offices that provide oversight activities on natural gas exploration.
The working group includes federal agencies, White House offices and cabinet-level departments. It comes as Republicans increasingly criticize Obama’s energy policies.
ALOV Plans to Exit Role as Drilling Lease Negotiator
Wednesday, April 11, 2012SALEM, Ohio – The nonprofit organization that's helped leverage more than 180,000 acres in leasehold agreements between landowners and energy exploration companies in eastern Ohio will end its role as a bargaining agent later this year, a senior board member says.
“It never was built or intended to go for a long period of time,” says Bob Rea of the Associated Landowners of the Ohio Valley, or ALOV. "ALOV as a negotiating unit will be finished up this year.”
BP Reps Meet and Greet Officeholders, Protesters
Tuesday, April 10, 2012VIENNA, Ohio -- The representatives from BP America who visited Trumbull County last night met a few more people than they invited when half a dozen protesters crashed an informal meeting between BP and elected officials from the Mahoning Valley.
Inside Squaw Creek Country Club here, Bruce Abbuhl, Ohio program manager for BP, told reporters he and others from the company were in town to get signatures on gas leases from landowners with the Associated Landowners of the Ohio Valley, or ALOV, and wanted to take time to meet local officials and other community leaders.
Landowners Sued for Blocking Seismic Tests
Tuesday, April 10, 2012LISBON, Ohio – A land company that conducts seismic testing for Chesapeake Energy Corp. has sued five property owners in Columbiana County, saying the landowners have refused access to their properties – alleging one owner threatened to shoot company employees should they try to step on his land.
TGS-NOPEC Geophysical Co., based in Houston, filed one complaint March 16 and four more March 20.
