Akron-Canton Website Attacked by Hackers
Tuesday, May 28, 2013GREEN, Ohio -- The Akron-Canton Airport's website is again fully functional and secure after being attacked Saturday morning by a TurkishAjan group. Airport officials say no passwords for email addresses or credit card information was on the website, but the information that was obtained came from entries to contests. This included contest entrants' names, emails, cities and phone numbers.
Community Foundation Names Harrell Its President
Tuesday, May 28, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley has chosen Shari L. Harrell, a lifelong resident of the Valley, as its president.
She succeeds Patricia Brozik, who retires June 26 after leading the foundation since its inception in 2001. Harrell begins her duties July 8.

‘Metamorphosis’ Mural Depicts the City's Changes
Tuesday, May 28, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Drive or walk along Federal Street downtown and you’ll see a big change – the “Metamorphosis Project,” a 310-foot mural installed over the Memorial Day weekend on the three buildings that comprise the Youngstown Business Incubator.
The block-long mural’s “Metamorphosis” theme blends the urban skyline of Youngstown with steel, technology and nature to show the growth and change of the city. It is visible from the outside of the YBI buildings but does not block the street views of those working inside the buildings.
Holocaust Workshop Offered to Educators

Restaurants to Add 448,000 Summer Jobs

Stambaugh Auditorium to Dedicate Formal Garden Thursday
Tuesday, May 28, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Dedication of the recently renovated formal garden outside Stambaugh Auditorium is set for 9 a.m. Thursday. The renovation is a gift from the Stambaugh Pillars and features extended capabilities for small outdoor concerts, dinner receptions, cocktail receptions and weddings.
Among the updated amenities are new stone walkways, new plantings and new electrical service. Ambient lighting has been added to the original working fountain, in place since 1926, that remains the centerpiece of the garden.

Streetscape Volunteers to 'Grow the YO' June 1
Friday, May 24, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- StreetScape 2013, the 16th annual fix-up, clean-up event in the downtown, will be held from 8 a.m. until noon Saturday, Sharon Letson, executive director, announced May 24. Volunteers will beautify downtown Youngstown and entries to the city by removing debris, trimming, planting flowers and shrubs and mulching planted areas.
Among the sites of focus are the median in West Federal Street Median, the John Young memorials, and the corner of Front Street and South Avenue, City Hall and Wick Park.
