Aqua America Acquires 63 Florida Water and Wastewater Systems
Thursday, July 01, 2004BRYN MAWR, Pa. -- Aqua America Inc.'s Florida subsidiary, Aqua Utilities Florida Inc., has completed the acquisition of 63 water and wastewater systems from Florida Water Services Corp., a subsidiary of Allete Inc., for $13.82 million. The acquisition will be accretive to earnings.The transaction adds another 40,000 residents in the central part of the state and complements Aqua's current concentration of customers in the Sarasota area, bringing the total number of residents served in Florida to 100,000.

Pennsylvania's General Fund Revenue Exceeds Estimates
Thursday, July 01, 2004HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Pennsylvania collected $2.1 billion in general fund revenue in June, $180.5 million or 9.2% more than anticipated. Fiscal year 2003-04 general fund collections totaled $22.8 billion, which was $636.9 million or 2.9% above estimate, reports state Secretary of Revenue Gregory C. Fajt. "Last year at this time, Pennsylvania's revenue collections were nearly $500 million below estimate," he says. "This year they are $636.9 million over estimate.

GM's truck sales (218,558) were down 15% and car sales (161,709) were down 15% as well.Total sales January through June of 2,295,621 units were up 1%. Truck sales through the first six months (1,350,083) were up 3 % compared to year-ago levels, and car sales (945,538) declined 3%."Coming off strong May sales, GM's June sales were weaker than we expected," said John Smith, group vice president North America Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing.
