Friday, August 27, 2004SALEM, Ohio -- Christine Brunt, Internet manager at Stadium GM Superstore, is charged with updating inventory information at the company's Web site, answering customers' e-mail questions and handling vehicle sales. If a customer knows the exact vehicle he or she wants to buy, she'll take a deposit by telephone, secure financing and get the vehicle ready to be driven out of the dealership lot -- the only thing that can't be done online, she said. "This cuts out a lot of time for the customer to be here at the dealership," said Brunt, who has been with Stadium GM for two years.

Friday, August 27, 2004OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- Sprint and SBC Communications Inc. today announced a reciprocal Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) Internet service roaming agreement that will provide their customers access to each other's public Wi-Fi networks.Under the agreement, customers will be able to roam on the Wi-Fi networks of each company using their existing user IDs and passwords.

Friday, August 27, 2004HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Mercer and Lawrence counties will get checks totaling nearly $13,000 as the Pennsylvania Game Commission mails its annual in-lieu-of-tax payments for State Game Lands it owns in 65 of the state's 67 counties, according to Vern Ross, executive director of the agency. The Game Commission's checks, totaling nearly $1.72 million for the 2004 tax year, will be sent to county treasurers, school districts and municipalities prior to Sept.

Help-Wanted Index Drops One Point
Thursday, August 26, 2004NEW YORK -- The Conference Board's Help-Wanted Advertising Index -- a key barometer of America's job market -- dipped one point in July, according to a report issued today. The Index now stands at 37, down from 38 the previous month. The Index was 38 one year ago, the report stated.In the last three months, help-wanted advertising declined in six of the nine U.S. regions, the report showed. Declines occurred in the West North Central (-7.2%), South Atlantic (-6.1%), East North Central (-4.9%), East South Central (-4.1%), Middle Atlantic (-2.1%) and Pacific (-2.0%) regions.
