U.S. National Security Advisor to Speak in Westlake
CLEVELAND -- Dr. Condoleezza Rice, U.S. National Security Advisor, will come to Cleveland Oct. 15to speak about national security issues before an audience of 800. The event, which will be held at LaCentre in Westlake, is sponsored by The City Club of Cleveland and KeyBank. Rice was named assistant to the President for National Security Affairs on Jan. 22, 2001. In addition to serving in two presidential administrations, she completed a six-year tenure as provost of Stanford University and has written several books and articles on foreign affairs and defense policy.Rice's extensive achievements and distinguished leadership moved KeyBank to sponsor the event, according to Margot J. Copeland, executive vice president, chairwoman of the Key Foundation and director of corporate diversity at KeyCorp."Not only is Dr. Rice's topic timely, but having a woman of her caliber here in Cleveland is truly inspiring," Copeland said. "An enlightened city is a smart city and, to that end, our sponsorship of this and other City Clubevents helps ensure that a variety of voices and viewpoints are heard in Cleveland."The speech will be broadcast live on WCLV 104.9 at 12:30 PM and transmitted to The City Club radio network of more than 200 stations around the country. It will also be broadcast by WVIZ ideastream at 10:30 AM on Oct. 17.
