Cafaro Co. Trumpets Fall Debut for Gabriel Brothers
Tuesday, September 09, 2014NILES, Ohio – Gabriel Brothers will open a new 64,900-square-foot store in the McKinley Centre of the Eastwood Mall Complex, the Cafaro Co. announced this morning.
An early November opening is expected for the new store, according to a news release issued this morning. The retail chain will take the space occupied by Tops Friendly markets several years ago.
Butler to Hold Art Auction, Open Fall Exhibits

2Q Utica Production of Oil, Natural Gas Soars in Ohio
Tuesday, September 09, 2014COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Horizontal wells in the Utica shale in the eastern part of the state produced more natural gas during the second quarter than all of the Ohio wells combined in 2012, reports the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
The shale wells in the state produced 2,467,283 barrels of oil and 88.673 billion cubic feet of natural gas during the three months ended June 30, according to a summary report ODNR released Monday.
American Water Cooperates as 2 Wells Remain Closed
Tuesday, September 09, 2014NILES, Ohio -- A wastewater injection operation along state Route 169 in Weathersfield Township that the Ohio Department of Natural Resources has linked to a small earthquake in the area remains closed as the owner says his company is providing all of the data and necessary information to the agency.
Ron Klingle, chairman of Avalon Holdings Corp., parent of American Water Management Services Inc., says that the technical staff of his company is in contact with ODNR officials, but would not elaborate on much else until more details become known.
Trumbull 100 Funds Garden District Rehab Program
Tuesday, September 09, 2014WARREN, Ohio – Standing before a newly renovated house, the president of Trumbull 100, Diane Sauer, announced Monday that her group would match donations to Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership and Trumbull County Community Fund so revitalization efforts in this city’s Garden District can continue.
The house at 453 Vine St., paid for and renovated with a $25,000 donation from Trumbull 100 member Bill Casey, will be sold and the proceeds used to renovate other houses in the neighborhood. The house is listed at $29,900, Sauer said.
Casey is the owner of Warren Glass and Paint.
Ohio OKs $298K for YSU 3-D Printing Equipment
Tuesday, September 09, 2014COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The State Controlling Board voted Monday to approve $298,773 for equipment purchases to support additive manufacturing training at Youngstown State University.
The funds will be used to purchase a vacuum sintering furnace for $143,288 from TevTech LLC, of North Billerica, Mass., and an in-situ non-contact metrology AIM system from M-7 Technologies Inc. in Youngstown. TevTech submitted the lowest of four bids for the furnace and M-7 was the sole bidder for its system, according to Controlling Board documents.

YSU Lectures on Energy, Environment Start Wednesday
Tuesday, September 09, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Youngstown State University is hosting a speaker series on energy and the environment, organized by Ray Beiersdorfer, professor of geological and environmental sciences. The free lectures deal with the scientific, public health and policy research surrounding shale gas development and renewable energy.
Most of the lectures will be delivered via video conferencing, but three of the lectures will be delivered live. All begin at 7 p.m. successive Wednesdays in room 2000 of Moser Hall.
