Chemical Investment Linked to Shale Gas Reaches $100B
Monday, February 24, 2014WASHINGTON -- Potential U.S. chemical industry investment linked to natural gas and natural gas liquids from shale formations has topped $100 billion. As of this month, 148 projects valued at $100.2 billion have been announced.
The findings are in a report issued by the American Chemistry Council, a trade association based here.
3 Drilling Permits Issued in Lawrence County, Pa.
Wednesday, February 19, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection awarded three new horizontal permits for oil and gas exploration in Lawrence County during the first two weeks in February, records show.
The DEP reports it issued a single permit Feb. 13 to SWEPI LP, a division of Shell Energy, to drill a new horizontal well at the Kephart farm in North Beaver Township.
Also, the agency issued permits Feb. 7 to Hilcorp Energy Co. to drill two new horizontal wells at the Mijavec farm in Pulaski Township, records show.
Frackfree Gathers Enough Signatures for 3rd Vote
Monday, February 17, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Youngstown Community Bill of Rights Committee reports its members have surpassed their goal of collecting enough signatures on petitions to add a charter amendment to the May municipal ballot. The signatures will now go through the required legal processes to certify a ballot question, said committee spokeswoman Susie Beiersdorfer.
If certified, it would be the third time the group has placed up for vote a charter amendment that would ban hydraulic fracturing in the city of Youngstown.
