Friday, May 09, 2014WARREN, Ohio -- A father-and-son team in northeastern Ohio is looking to the TechBelt Energy Innovation Center in Warren to help them launch a new product that they say could revolutionize how we drive when spring arrives.
The roads, more resistant to the ravages of winter, would have far fewer potholes.
The primary ingredient in their product? Recycled tires.
“When you put rubber in roads, it makes [the surface] more flexible where it doesn’t crack,” explains the company’s CEO, Hari Chandra.
Stoneridge Reports Net Income of $1.5M, Down from Year Ago
Friday, May 09, 2014WARREN, Ohio -- Stoneridge Inc. Thursday reported first-quarter net income of $1.5 million, or 5 cents per diluted share. This compares with net income of $4.1 million, or 15 cents per diluted share, the same quarter a year ago.
The decrease in net income was attributed to lower sales by the company's PST business segment across all of its product lines sold in Brazil and a $1.6 million unfavorable currency loss in Brazil, which was caused by a devaluation of the Argentine peso compared with the Brazilian real, most of which occurred in January.

Thursday, May 08, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Youngstown State University Board of Trustees this afternoon called for an emergency meeting tomorrow at 7:30 a.m. No reason was given for the meeting but all signs point to trustees voting to appoint Jim Tressel YSU's next president either tomorrow or Monday night.
In addition to Friday's emergency meeting, trustees announced that they will meet again Monday at 6 p.m.
Mother’s Day Spending Projected to Reach $19.9B

Americans will spend an average of $162.94 on their mothers this year, down from a survey high of $168.94 last year.
Total spending is projected to reach $19.9 billion, according to the federation's 2014 Mother’s Day Spending Survey conducted by Prosper Insights & Analytics.
