Bank Regulators Lift MOU with Home Savings
Thursday, December 05, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. and the Ohio Department of Financial Institutions have lifted the memoranda of understanding they had with the Home Savings and Loan Co., Patrick W. Bevack, president and CEO of the bank, announced after the close of trading Wednesday.
That means the sole subsidiary of United Community Financial Corp. is no longer required to maintain higher capital ratio levels than other banks not under regulatory watch. Home Savings has met and exceeded the regulators’ higher criteria.
Builders Report Fewer Man Hours, Higher Dollar Volume
Thursday, December 05, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Construction man-hours fell 9.5% in fiscal 2013 but the total value of projects on the books rose 31% to nearly $551 million, the Builders Association of Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania reported Wednesday at its annual meeting.
The biggest project, according to a chart provided by the 170-member trade group, was the $250 million Pennant Midstream gas processing plant in New Middletown. Subtracting that project reduces total dollar volume to $300.8 million, its lowest level since fiscal 2007.
Things Remembered Warehouse Acquired for $8.5M
Thursday, December 05, 2013NORTH JACKSON, Ohio -- A Boston-based company that specializes in acquiring fully leased industrial and distribution facilities has purchased the Things Remembered warehouse here, according to the Mahoning County Auditor's web site.
Stag Industrial Inc. purchased the 200,000-square-foot warehouse at 500 S. Bailey Rd. for $8,450,000 on Nov. 12 from APCA North Jackson H LLC, records show. The auditor's web site lists the property's appraisal value at $7,000,030 for tax purposes.

US CFOs Less Optimistic about Economy

New-Vehicle Incentives Depress Used-Car Prices
Thursday, December 05, 2013McLEAN, Va. -- A cash incentive of $1,000 on a new vehicle reduces the price of a one-year-old used vehicle by nearly $600, says the National Automobile Dealers Association Used Car Guide.
In comparison, $1,000 spent on finance and lease incentives reduces the price of a one-year-old used vehicle by $165 and $89, respectively.
