'To Vote Is Power' Marks Hispanic Heritage Month at YSU
Monday, September 20, 2004YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Youngstown State University will mark Hispanic Heritage Month, which is observed nationally from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, with a day-long conference, "To Vote Is Power," on Oct. 2. The conference, which runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Kilcawley Center, features a keynote address by Ezra C. Escudero, executive director of the Ohio Commission in Hispanic/Latino Affairs. His speech is at 10 a.m.
Pennsylvania Commission on Asian American Affairs Holds First Meeting
Monday, September 20, 2004HARRISBURG, Pa. -- The newly created Governor's Advisory Commission on Asian American Affairs and its 15 appointed commissioners held the inaugural meeting recently, according to Gov. Edward G. Rendell. Commissioners will serve three-year terms.Rendell said he created the Commission by Executive Order to ensure the state's responsiveness to the needs and concerns of its Asian American citizens.

Bush shirked his obligations to the Texas Air National Guard in a story that aired on the Sept. 8 edition of60 Minutes Wednesday."Based on what we now know," said Andrew Heyward, president of CBS News, "CBS News cannot prove that the documents are authentic, which is the only acceptable journalistic standard to justify using them in the report. We should not have used them.
ISG Plans $14M Upgrade at Warren Coke Plant
Monday, September 20, 2004WARREN, Ohio -- The country's largest integrated steel producer is planning a major upgrade of its operations here and has applied for tax incentives through Trumbull County to assist the project.ISG Warren, a subsidiary of Richfield-based ISG Inc., plans to spend between $14 million and $19 million over the next 10 to 15 years to re-line its 85 coke ovens, reported Jeff Foster, plant manager. "We'll continue to invest dollars into our battery and by-products division," Foster said.
