Ohio Edison Agrees to Spend $1.1B on Cleaner Air
Friday, March 18, 2005WASHINGTON -- The Ohio Edison Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp., has agreed to spend $1.1 billion on reducing emissions at its coal-fired plants including the W.H. Sammis Station, Stratton, Ohio, and the Bruce Mansfield Plant in Beaver County, Pa.The company also agreed to pay an $8.5 million civil penalty, the second largest fine imposed on a power company, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency said. RTI Metals Delays Filing 2004 Annual Report
Friday, March 18, 2005NILES, Ohio -- RTI International Metals Inc. (NYSE:RTI) yesterday notified the Securities and Exchange Commission that it needs an extension on filing its 2004 annual report, and when the final numbers are tallied, the company's loss will be slightly higher than the $2.8 million estimated in February.RTI's annual report was due March 16. The company attributed the delay on new accounting regulations, systems and personnel. RTI also said resources were diverted by last year's work stoppage at the Niles plant of its RMI Titanium Co. subsidiary and the acquisition of Claro Precision Inc.

Streetscape Beautification Program Expands to Corridors
Friday, March 18, 2005YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Streetscape beautification program will expand its borders beyond downtown this year, branching out along key arteries leading into the city's central business district.The planting and cleanup program, now in its eighth year, will hold its annual planting June 4 beginning at 8 a.m., reports Claire Maluso, Federal Plaza director.
