Mercer County United Way Continues Challenge Grant
Tuesday, March 22, 2005"SHARON, Pa. -- The United Way of Mercer County has reached 95% of its 2004 campaign goal of $1 million, officials announced recently. Through the efforts of Fred George and Paul O'Brien, a $20,000 Challenge Match Grant program will continue through March 31.

Consumers Spend $1.8B for Online Content Last Year
Tuesday, March 22, 2005"NEW YORK -- Consumer spending for online content in the United States grew to $1.8 billion in 2004, a 14% increase over 2003, according to a new report from the Online Publishers Association. The growth was driven largely by the Entertainment/Lifestyles category. Online Personals/Dating remained the leading paid content category in 2004, with spending at an all-time high of $469.5 million for the year, up 4% over 2003. However, spending on Entertainment/Lifestyles grew a remarkable 90%, from $217.6 million in 2003 to $413.5 million in 2004.

Tuesday, March 22, 2005"AKRON, Ohio -- FirstEnergy Corp. plans to hire up to 3,000 employees through 2007, approximately 1,600 of whom are expected to be hired in 2005 and 2006, according to Anthony J. Alexander, president and chief executive officer. FirstEnergy companies currently have more than 13,000 employees in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey."Like most U.S. companies, we will need to replace highly skilled and experienced employees who retire over the next several years," Alexander said.
