Home Savings has 10,000 Holiday Cards for Troops
Wednesday, November 20, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The employees of Home Savings and Loan Co. want to send U.S. troops 10,000 holiday postcards in the Holiday Mail for Heroes program sponsored by the Red Cross.
The cards are available at all Home Savings retail branch offices for residents and customers to sign.

US Metros Struggle as They Drive National Economy
Tuesday, November 19, 2013WASHINGTON -- The nation's cities are struggling more economically this yeat than they did last year, a new report from The U.S. Conference of Mayors shows. When the data are complied, one-third of the 363 U.S. metropolitan areas and their surrounding suburbs are projected to show stagnant or declining economies for 2013.
That number has increased significantly since last year, when only one-fifth, or 73, of U.S. metropolitan areas experienced no growth.
Ballet Western Reserve Brings ‘Nutcracker’ to DeYor
Tuesday, November 19, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Ballet Western Reserve will present its annual performance of “The Nutcracker” at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 6 and 2 p.m. Dec. 7 at the DeYor Center.
The unabridged ballet, choreographed by artistic director Virginia Hartman, is set to the music of Peter Tchaikovsky. Nearly 80 Ballet Western Reserve students ages 6 to 21 have rehearsed the ballet the last three months, Hartman reports.

Israel Zambrano, the chain’s owner, announced Monday that the new Los Gallos Mexican Restaurant and Sports Cantina is open for business, following a soft opening last week. The downtown restaurant, the seventh Los Gallos location, is in the space formerly occupied by Café Cimmento.

Warren SOUP to Hold Micro-Funding Dinner Nov. 23

Warren SOUP is an informal alliance of residents and organizations from Warren who would provide small grants for worthwhile creative projects. Warren SOUP is modeled after Detroit SOUP (SOUP is not an acronym).
