Ohio Chautauqua Comes to Warren June 24
Wednesday, May 28, 2014WARREN, Ohio -- Ohio Chautauqua, a five-day event that combines presentations of living history, education, music and theater, will come here June 24 to 28.
Ohio Chautauqua is free and open to the public.
Evening activities are scheduled for under a red-and-white striped tent on the grounds near the Kinsman House along Mahoning Avenue in the downtown. Live local music will begin at 6:30 p.m. each night. At 7:30 p.m., a scholar portrays a historical figure and delivers a monologue that reflects his significance. Afterward, the audience can ask questions of the performer.
UCFC's New CEO Commends Shareholders' Patience

Cortland Bancorp Forced to Recess Annual Meeting
Wednesday, May 28, 2014VIENNA TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- Because of circumstances beyond its control, Cortland Bancorp recessed its annual meeting Tuesday and will reschedule.
Its transfer agent never forwarded the results of the shareholders’ votes -- a highly unusual circumstance, CEO and President James Gasior informed shareholders, employees and guests at the Avalon Country Club at Squaw Creek. Cortland’s repeated efforts last week and Tuesday morning to reach the transfer agent met with no response. “We have not been able to validate the vote totals,” Gasior announced.
April House Sales Up Substantially in Trumbull
Wednesday, May 28, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Sales of single-family houses in April were up substantially from a year earlier in Trumbull County while stable in Mahoning and Columbiana counties, according to the monthly report from the Youngstown Columbiana Association of Realtors.
In Trumbull County, 151 houses were sold in April, up from 130 in April 2013 and from 131 in March. In Mahoning County, 201 units were sold last month, down just one from 202 a year earlier but up from 161 in March. In Columbiana County, 61 houses were sold in April, a gain of two from April 2013 and from March’s 47.
TCTC Seeks Employers for Career Fair June 27
Wednesday, May 28, 2014CHAMPION Township, Ohio -- TCTC Adult Training Center is seeking employers interested in participating in the training center’s career and job fair June 27 from 10 a.m. to 3p.m. at the training center here.
Employers will have access to potential employees from throughout the local area as well as TCTC graduates from the adult training center’s industrial, health care, and information technology programs.
There will also be space available for those employers that choose to interview during the fair, according to an announcement from the school.
