Thursday, May 06, 2004"NEW YORK -- The decline in manufacturing jobs in the United States and other major nations shows no signs of slowing, a comprehensive new study released yesterday by The Conference Board finds.The study says that in good times and bad in the United States, at least 16 million jobs are created or destroyed each year -- 14% of all U.S. employment.Domestic manufacturing jobs were particularly hard hit in the most recent recession, dropping 7.8% -- a decline more than three times greater than the 2.2% decrease in the two years following the recession of 1990-1991.

The reason? Not only might it allow these communities as a group to provide expensive equipment that would be too costly to afford on their own, they will likely end up saving money in the process. Judging by the possibilities for regional cooperation in the Cleveland area, it may well be worth exploring in others around Ohio.
Eminent Domain Initiated to Take Front Street Properties

Bankrate: Mortgage Rates Rise 7th Straight Week
Thursday, May 06, 2004NEW YORK -- Mortgage rates continued to increase sharply this week, the average 30-year fixed rate mortgage shooting up to 6.18% from 6.07%, reports Bankrate.com's weekly national survey of large lenders. The mortgages in this week's survey had an average of 0.40 discount and origination points.In the past seven weeks, the average 30-year fixed rate mortgage has increased more than 0.75%, to 6.18% from 5.41%. The last time mortgage rates were this high was last Sept. 22, when the 30-year fixed stood at 6.22%.

Delphi ranked 34th overall on the 2004 list. This is the third consecutive year Delphi has received such recognition, the company said. Delphi ranked 46th last year and 70th in 2002.
