Magazine Ranks Delphi Among Best Corporate Citizens
TROY, Mich. -- Delphi Corp. reports it has been named one of the 100 Best Corporate Citizens for 2004 by Business Ethics magazine. Now in its fifth year, the annual listing of the 100 Best Corporate Citizens for 2004 identifies companies among the Russell 1000 -- the largest publicly traded companies -- that excel at serving a variety of stakeholders. Delphi ranked 34th overall on the 2004 list. This is the third consecutive year Delphi has received such recognition, the company said. Delphi ranked 46th last year and 70th in 2002. The ranking is based on quantitative measures of corporate service to seven stakeholder groups: stockholders, employees, customers, the community, the environment, overseas stakeholders, and women and minorities. "We remain committed to providing value to our stockholders and being our customers' No. 1 supplier," said J.T. Battenberg III, Delphi chairman, chief executive officer and president. "Our employees are critical to our global success and daily practice excellence in their work and throughout the communities in which they live." Statistical analysis for the list was done by Sandra Waddock and Samuel Graves of the Carroll School of Management at Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Mass. Social ratings were provided by KLD Research & Analytics of Boston. The 100 Best Corporate Citizens story will appear in the spring issue of Business Ethics.
